Bob posted a July 2 announcement from the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense: "Organizational Name Change to Defense Pricing, Contracting, and Acquisition Policy"
Quote
Effective immediately, the organization formerly known as Defense Pricing and Contracting (DPC), has been renamed as Defense Pricing, Contracting, and Acquisition Policy (DPCAP). This new name reflects an expanded organizational portfolio to include both acquisition and contracting responsibilities, and synergies to be realized across these functions. Joining the existing four directorates [Contract Policy (CP), Contracting e-Business (CeB), Defense Acquisition Regulations System (DARS), and Price, Cost and Finance (PCF)], we welcome a fifth directorate--Acquisition Policy and Innovation (API).
"Synergies" my foot. Sounds like Madison Avenue b.s.
API will be just another bureaucracy.
Is API going to tell Congress to ease up on the legislation and the president to hold off on the executive orders?
No.
Are they going write better regulations and "guidance"?
Well, let's give them a chance.
But probably not.

I’m skeptical about this and wonder about an ulterior motive. Ryan Connell left this organization and was very involved and influential.. He left that organization and went to the Digital and Artificial Office in charge of acquisitions. Between what’s he done there and the huge success of Tradewinds, I think someone at DoD wants to rein the CDAO in and have them accountable to DPCAP - that’s the “I” part of the new API directorate. Maybe I’m wrong but it sure looks suspicious.
