Conflict of interest as an employee

I’m currently a federal government employee. I also own a side business and I do 1099 contract work for a private company. 

The private company is considering a contact with the federal agency for which I’m employed, and I’d be doing some work for the private company pertaining to this contract (if it were to happen). 

Is this a conflict of interest, or can I get around it since I’m not directly employed by the private company therefore they’re a middle man between me and the government agency?
