DOD cannot account for $6.5 trillion

According to a July 26, 2016 report by the DOD Inspector General, the Army cannot account for $6.5 trillion in 2015 voucher adjustments and does not know what happened to 16,513 financial records. In addition, the Army cannot produce auditable financial statements.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Operations) concurred in the IG's recommendations.

I'm not entirely sure what this means, but, whatever it means, it's not good news for the Army or DOD.
