I was curious to see what the WIFCON community thought about the Exec Order published on January 18 requiring review of all Federal Regulations.

What do you think will be the outcome?

    All rhetoric. The EO says

This order is supplemental to and reaffirms the principles, structures, and definitions governing contemporary regulatory review that were established in Executive Order 12866 of September 30, 1993.

So does anyone bring up EO 12866 when putting out new regulations? It sounds good but that's about it.

With the EO there is hope that OIRA will be removed from process of issuing acquisition regulations. That would be a good thing.

OIRA is statutory. How can it be eliminated without Congressional action? Besides, OIRA makes it harder to issue regulations. Why get rid of it if you think you have too many regs?
